A 20-year-old mother was shot to death Wednesday in New York City's Upper East Side neighborhood as she pushed her 3-month-old baby's stroller down the street.

The killer remains uncaught, NBC New York reported.

The girl's mother, Azsia Johnson, told Fox News that the suspect is the baby's father.

"The city was supposed to protect her," Lisa Desort said, "it's a domestic violence case from January."

"Nobody protected my daughter, and now she is dead," she said between tears.

"He threatened me with death, my daughter with death and my other daughter with death," she said.

"We called the police station many times," she added.

We cannot allow this epidemic to continue claiming lives, ”he said on the social network Twitter.

This crime comes less than a week after the Supreme Court struck down a New York law that restricted firearms to those without "just cause."

The New York legislature will meet this Thursday in a special session to address the consequences of the court ruling.
