They worked countless weekends, worked overtime, worked in their free time, showed solidarity and commitment - and thus contributed to overcoming the corona pandemic.

The district thanked the full-time and volunteer helpers with a party.

Sing, dance, chatter

Karlsfeld - "Today we feel that our work is valued, we feel the gratitude!"

Schade and Kotny in Dachau sat together at a table, sang and danced - they enjoyed the evening.

Just like around 1000 other full-time and volunteer helpers from the vaccination and test centers, the health department and CTT, the hospital, the civil protection units and - representing many thousands of others - representatives from schools, daycare centers, communities and other authorities.

The district had invited her to the thank you party in the marquee at Karlsfelder See.

"Corona hero" and "Corona heroine" was written on the silicone wristbands that all the celebrants wore on Wednesday evening.

Ois Easy provided the right atmosphere in the marquee, which was already there for the start of the Karlsfeld Settlers and Lake Festival.

Governor: Great appreciation

At the beginning of the event, District Administrator Stefan Löwl expressed his great appreciation to all those present: "It would take the whole evening to thank everyone personally.

So many have accomplished so much in the past two years.

And I know they will continue to do so." With the management of the Dachau health department, Dr.

Monika Baumgartner-Schneider and supply physician Dr.

Christian Günzel then named Löwl, to great applause, but two names that have particularly distinguished themselves and have continued to work beyond any working hours.

"We feel the gratitude and appreciation!": Doctor's assistants at the Schade/Kothny practice.

During the course of the evening, Christian Günzel walked through the aisles with a beer mug and was greeted from all sides.

"As a big coordinating figure, I obviously know a lot tonight," he said.

He is very grateful that we can now come together like this.

"What we did was great, now let's celebrate!"

Always worked together

Sven Langer and Marco Illmann from THW Dachau were also happy about this kind of thank you evening: "We see many familiar faces and many people with whom we have worked again and again over the past two years," says Langer.

For example, when setting up the drive-in vaccination center.

"It's nice that you get together in such a setting, you can chat with colleagues who you usually only see in action," says Georg Burgmaier, commander of the Schwabhausen fire brigade.

Neslihan Bektas also thinks it's nice to see all colleagues.

"We are happy, but we know that we are not finished yet and that Corona is not over yet," says the head of the Johanniter vaccination center.

The employees of the health center are also of the opinion that Corona "will probably never be gone, so there is a fear that the whole thing will catch up with us again in autumn".

But regardless of that, they were happy about the evening: "Life begins again, the others celebrate just like that, so why shouldn't we celebrate?"

The idea for a "Thank you" came up last year, as Sina Török, spokeswoman for the district office, announced.

"Knowing that the pandemic is still not over, the celebration was still a nice and important opportunity to thank the Corona heroes, as a district and on behalf of all district citizens, who have done so much during the pandemic".

Appropriately, the party band "Ois Easy" was hired for the evening - which, even during the pandemic, was repeatedly active with calls for solidarity and projects.
