Chen Zhisi, who will leave office with Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor and step down as the convener of the Executive Council, posted on social networking sites that he has served in the guild for nearly 15 years and has gone through four chief executives.
He said that it is his honor to serve Hong Kong in this position, and he will do his best to serve the society in different ways in the days to come.
In the new government, the guild convener will be the chairman of the New Democratic Party and member of the Legislative Council, Ye Liu Shuyi.
Since 2004, Chen Zhisi has not been appointed to the guild for only three and a half years, and has attended 545 formal meetings.
He said that he would like to express his special thanks to the four Chief Executives, including Tung Chee-hwa, Donald Tsang, Leung Chun-ying and Carrie Lam, for their trust. He also thanked all the colleagues in the guild and the Secretariat, saying that working together is of great significance.
He also said that "Hong Kong is my home" and will continue to serve the society in different ways in the future.
