A very special baptism took place in Bernried.

19 children were accepted into the evangelical community directly on the shore of Lake Starnberg.

Bernried

- The music of the band "Mut" met the motto of the afternoon exactly.

Wonderland”, the introductory song to the festive christening, went perfectly with the chosen location.

For the first time, 19 children between the ages of zero and nine were solemnly baptized in Bernried on Lake Starnberg, near the steamer jetty.

The weather was wonderful, the lake lapped small waves on the shore, the benches under the shady trees invited those to be baptized, parents and godparents to take a seat and enjoy the mass in God's free nature - even if the little ones were only too happy to do so cool water and neglected their beautiful dresses and suits, much to the chagrin of some parents.

The children filled the baptismal fonts themselves with water from the lake

The three baptismal fonts on the site also waited for the children to fill them with water before the baptismal vows.

The Protestant pastor Anne Roß from Tutzing, Penzberg's pastor Philipp Roß and Dean Jörg Hammerbacher organized the solemn service and took the baptized and their parents with them to make the big day and the baptism an unforgettable experience.

Dean Hammerbacher welcomed the baptismal families before the ceremony.

“There has never been a community like today.

It is like a family that comes together through baptism.

We believe that all life is a miracle, baptism is a sign that cannot be taken away”.

Questions about what baptismal water is all about were also answered.

“Baptism is the water of life, a celebration with many unforgettable moments.

This is intended to give the children roots, which they will sometimes need more than wings,” said the pastor.

Instead of cultivated boredom, the children were there with zeal

"A stone falls into the water" - the song went perfectly with the baptismal speech and the proximity to the lake.

When the baptism command was given to the parents, everyone cried out in unison: "Yes, with God's help".

While the band played a few verses of the song "I carry a name" softly, a children's human chain went to the lake to fill the baptismal font with lake water.

Everyone was there with great enthusiasm.

The main persons, the baptized with their parents and godparents, were allowed to go to the baptismal font in three groups – the smallest ones were carried.

After the ceremony and the intercessions, the song “God keep us, God protect us” was played at the end.

With the blessing and music at the end, the participants met for a festive meal on the meadow.

A magician went from table to table and entertained the guests to the live music of the band "Mut".

The baptism in the open air was the first time that such an event was held in this context for the evangelical deanery in Weilheim.

The band Mut, which framed the service with contemporary church music, was organized by church organist from Munich, Christian Seidler.
