An important change in the Miesbach town hall has been clarified: Benedikt Waizmann succeeds Max Kalup in the city marketing department.

The 35-year-old reports directly to Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller and, to put it simply, should actively help revitalize the city and make it better known.

"I'm slowly getting into the task," says the man from Miesbach, who started his service on May 1st.

"At least I know who to ask if I don't know what to do anymore." Admittedly, he has never done some tasks before.

He has already gained a wide range of experience in his previous professional life.

After graduating from secondary school, Waizmann completed a bank apprenticeship at the Kreissparkasse Tegernsee-Miesbach, then went back to school and completed his vocational diploma.

Then he studied business administration in Munich.

As a working student, he got a taste of Lidl and worked in the communications department of the CSU state leadership in Munich.

The former treasurer of the Junge Union was active there as a social media officer from 2016 to the end of 2020.

That's why Waizmann's predecessor Max Kalup left

A task that Waizmann carried out for five years, but which had a clear disadvantage: the commute to work in rush-hour traffic.

That's why the man from Miesbach took on a representative position at Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH as a social media and content manager and now took the opportunity to move his professional focus to his hometown.

This constellation means a special motivation for him: "I have roots in Miesbach, and it is the greatest incentive to work for my hometown." He has already introduced himself to the business people, and with the Long Shopping Saturday, which is on July 9th flanked by a children's flea market and the bike culture, he has already got his first project off the ground.

Lots of tasks

The core tasks, however, are the demonstration of the city center with the culinary evening, which takes place this year on August 10th, as well as the 1000 lights, which is planned for the start of Advent on November 26th.

In addition, there is the maintenance of relations with the French twin city of Marseillan, which are more or less on hold after the contracts were signed due to the corona.

"Maybe," says Waizmann, "we'll create an exchange in 2023." Digitization is also part of his area, in which he contributes his experience in the social media sector.

In any case, Mayor Braunmiller is convinced of the new man in city marketing.

"He will fill this job well with his style and his interest," says the head of the town hall.

The City Council Personnel Committee gave broad approval.

"It is still an important position that is of central importance." This is also evident in the office.

Unlike Kalup, who, as the former deputy head of the cultural sector, continued to have his office in the Waitzinger Keller, Waizmann has been in the town hall from the start - on the same level as the mayor.

That is also important, says Braunmiller: "This keeps the distances short."
