US President Joe Biden announced today that the United States will provide additional weapons and military assistance to the Ukrainian regime worth $800 million.
"The United States is doing exactly what I said we would do by strengthening our forces in Europe," Biden was quoted as saying by Reuters after the NATO summit.
The announcement of more weapons comes in addition to the more than 6.1 billion dollars announced by Washington since the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
Biden had pledged earlier to send more American soldiers, planes and warships to Europe after NATO agreed to what he called strengthening deterrence and putting more than 300,000 soldiers on high alert starting from the middle of next year.
Arms shipments from the United States and its NATO allies continue to flow into Kyiv worth more than hundreds of millions of dollars in one of the largest international arms transfers since World War II. These military shipments include anti-tank missiles, air defense batteries and other weapons in a dangerous escalation. And the continuing crisis in Ukraine.
