The rising diets are also said to have an impact on the earnings of members of the current federal government.

According to the information, the earnings of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) should increase to 30,189.81 euros per month.

Other top earners among cabinet members are Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens, EUR 25,573.08), Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens, EUR 25,573.08) and Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP, EUR 25,573.08).

Bundestag: Diets for MPs increase

Members of the state parliament in Lower Saxony will also receive more money in the future.

The so-called basic compensation increases from July by around 300 euros per month to 7,485 euros, as the state parliament decided on Tuesday with the votes of the four parliamentary groups SPD, CDU, Greens and FDP.

The non-attached MEPs voted against or abstained.

This monthly total has been 7,175 euros since July 2019.

Due to the financial impact of the corona pandemic, diets have not been increased in recent years.

This increase therefore leads to additional expenditure of 289,000 euros this year and 592,000 euros in 2023. In addition, the so-called flat-rate expense allowance will be increased by 70 euros per month to 1526 euros.

According to the information, this will cost a total of almost 200,000 euros more this year and next.
