In California, "Mister Happy Face" wins the world's ugliest dog contest.
California - Beauty pageants are at the top of the "to-do" list in the United States.
Even small children and teenagers take part in the Miss pageants.
There are also plenty of offers for dogs.
Flawless beauty is not always in the foreground.
Some competitions focus on something completely different: you could call it "naturalness".
And this point of view makes the whole worlds more sympathetic.

Jeneda Benally is from Arizona and is with her four-legged friend "Mr.
Happy Face" on business in California.
Just for fun, she enters him in a beauty pageant.
For her he is something very special: "Mr.
Happy Face" is a Chinese Crested Chihuahua mix.
These are extremely lovable, clever and very affectionate hairless dogs - the exotics were extremely popular with the rich and noble even then.
Chihuahua Pebbles is just as special - it is considered the oldest dog in the world.

But with their unusual appearance, they are not for everyone.
Petting a hairless dog can feel extremely weird to some.
Skin diseases and sunburns are not uncommon.
With appropriate care, this can be managed.
Nevertheless, many hairless dogs end up in animal shelters because of bad and catastrophic attitudes.
So also "Mr.
happy face".
At the time, Jeneda Benally had asked for the "oldest and most difficult to adopt dog" - so the employees brought her exactly this dog.

However, the responsible vet also “clarifies” them: He gives this dog only six weeks to live.
However, that was ten months ago, Benally reveals to The Press Democrat.
"I said I'm going to give him the best life I can.
I wanted to give him some love back," says Benally.
Now he's becoming a little star.
With his funny tufts of hair, his wide eyes and his tongue hanging out, he convinced the jury of the competition.
The loving couple wins the grand prize of $1,500 and a trip to New York City to appear on NBC's Today.
The competition was all about "the ugliest dog in the world".
Presenter Brent Farris was also on the jury.
He emphasizes, "We were looking for ugly yet endearing features like extreme molars, an underbite, or odd colors."
By the way, the contest encourages the adoption of animals from shelters, even if they aren't particularly pretty.
