A border collie adopts a baby squirrel after saving the little rodent's life.

Now they don't leave each other's side.

During a walk together, Leesh Rideout and her dog made a short stop at a body of water around Berlin to enable them to swim a little.

Of course, the fur nose didn't miss this chance and jumped into the water.

But there in the water was a little creature that was threatening to drown - and Berlin didn't hesitate and brought it very carefully to land, reports the dog owner on TikTok.

It quickly turned out that the cute animal was a baby squirrel.

"We took him home to try and nurse him back to health," Leesh said in a TikTok video.

Berlin never leaves the little squirrel's side, which bears the name Alvin from then on.

He even cuddles with him to give him the body heat he needs.

This is exactly what a mother dog and her puppies did, cuddling to save an abandoned baby from freezing to death.

The attentive care of Alvin pays off: Alvin recovers quickly, develops great - and is very jolly, as reported by kreiszeitung.de.

The owner of the two animal friends says: "Now that Alvin is a bit older, he and Berlin play a lot more, but he is so gentle.

Thanks to Berlin, Alvin is still alive today.
