The party put pressure on the former health minister due to the economic costs and economic situation of the Likud • Edelstein: "I am facing a critical election campaign for the State of Israel. I cannot drag the Likud movement into a confrontation within its ranks."

Good news for Benjamin Netanyahu:

Yuli Edelstein announced today (Thursday) that he is withdrawing his candidacy for the Likud presidency in the upcoming primaries.

Edelstein was the only candidate who declared that he would run in the election against Netanyahu and has since been harmed by the party.

His run was seen as a step against Netanyahu and some of the internal polls conducted in the party Edelstein slipped several places down in the top ten.

Behind the scenes, the Likud pressured Edelstein to resign, claiming that he had no chance anyway and not to hold primaries for the presidency due to the economic costs and the economic situation of the Likud.

Edelstein's statement read: "The Likud is my home. In every way I went, I always put the Likud movement at the forefront of my mind. Every decision I made stemmed from the goal of promoting these values and the belief that the Likud and the national camp are the ones who should lead the State of Israel."

The Likud movement is my home.

In every way I went, I always put the Likud movement at the forefront of my mind.

The Likud connects the idea of the Greater Land of Israel, connects people from all sectors, connects a variety of opinions and ideas - the Likud belongs to all of us and together we will correct the failures of the Lapid-Bennett government in the economy, education, transport, health and security.

"Now that we are facing a critical election campaign for the State of Israel, I cannot drag the Likud movement into a confrontation within its ranks, so I have decided to withdraw my candidacy for the party leadership in the upcoming elections."

Edelstein explained that "this decision stems from the desire to unite the ranks and win. In the current election campaign, a change will be made and we will act differently. The way in which we will achieve our goal will be important and significant - we will win with sensitivity, determination and wisdom."

"It is time to be united, as the name of our party means. Together with Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu, I will lead to the victory of the national camp in the elections and the establishment of a full-fledged right-wing government."

In response to Edelstein's resignation, Netanyahu congratulated and said that "I am sure that we will work together, as we have done in the past, together with all party members for the Likud victory and for a great victory for the State of Israel."
