Daraa-Sana
The Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Daraa estimated the governorate’s farmers’ production of dry onions in the current season at 5,500 tons.
Head of the Plant Production Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Eng. Wael Al-Ahmad, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that the area planted with dry onions in this season amounted to 220 hectares, with a yield of about 25 tons per hectare, indicating that agriculture spreads in most areas of the governorate, especially the western regions.
He added that the marketing of dry onions to the markets starts from the middle of next month, pointing out that the dry onion crop has economic feasibility and its prices are acceptable to the farmer and the citizen, and the people of Daraa save it as supplies and therefore it is in great demand in the markets.
