Cats are known to have seven lives.
A small ball of fur near the Rothschwaiger Forest near Fürstenfeldbruck should now have used up one of them.
Workers at a construction site on Tuesday heard a pitiful meow coming from a hole under a concrete base.
The men first tried to free the animal from its predicament - without success.
(
By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular
FFB newsletter.)
So they alerted the fire department.
With shovels, pickaxes and a hammer drill, the rescuers widened the hole until an athletic firefighter could just squeeze in and grab the animal.
A young emaciated black and white kitty emerged.
The vet to whom the cat was taken estimates the age at just 12 weeks.
Now the animal is fed up again - and can hopefully enjoy its remaining six lives to the fullest.
