Isar Aerospace builds small launch vehicles.

By 2024, Isar Aerospace wants to send satellites from the Swiss stock exchange company Astrocast into orbit.

The bride show has begun: the community of Haar also wants to attract the rocket builders from Isar Aerospace to the community.

However, there are concerns about tax revenue.

Haar

- Even if no rockets are launched in Haar, Isar Aerospace could shoot the community into the future.

With a decision of principle, the municipal council sends the technology start-up a positive signal: 22 out of 28 municipal councils voted for the idea of examining the commercial development of Finckwiese for the hotly courted rocket manufacturer.

The Finckwiese south of Wasserburger Strasse (B 304) and adjacent to Grasbrunner Strasse (B 471) is the last top area in the municipality - the fractions therefore did not make the decision easy for themselves.

"In addition to the economic potential, I also see future viability," said Mayor Andreas Bukowski (CSU).

In the long term, other technology companies could also come to Haar through Isar Aerospace.

The start-up could produce up to 40 launch vehicles per year.

“Many would tear themselves up and we are seriously discussing it”

"Conventional office space is a dime a dozen," said the mayor.

Since large companies such as Siemens and BMW are not interested in the area, he is happy about the statements made by space researchers.

"Many would be upset about it and we are seriously discussing it." Isar Aerospace currently has around 250 employees in Ottobrunn, and the number at the new location is expected to be twice as many.

The dissenting voices to the fundamental decision came from the SPD and the Greens - even if nobody rejected the idea in principle.

The two major points of criticism: trade tax revenue and height development.

The start-up is currently in the red.

While this is normal, it means that hair would continue to have a hole in the household for years to come.

"In 30 years, many hairdressers may be grateful - but not in the next ten years," said Mike Seckinger, (Greens).

For Thomas Fäth (SPD), too, the company does not fit perfectly into the community's last large open space.

The risk with regard to the business tax is too high, the industrial buildings for the construction of 28 meter high launch vehicles too high.

decision sends a positive signal

After Haar's largest trade taxpayer, the pharmaceutical giant MSD, moved away last year, the municipality is dependent on income.

Isar Aerospace would probably not solve this problem for many years - but it would bring innovation and attractive jobs.

"It will motivate young, qualified people to come to Haar," said Peter Siemsen (FDP).

New market, new industry, satellites, big plans - that sounds tempting for most of the Haar municipal councillors.

But all of this could also remain theory.

The decision on the part of the community has so far only sent a positive signal in the direction of Isar Aerospace.

Three other communities appear to be in the running

"That doesn't mean that they really come to us, three other communities are also applying," noted Peter Paul Gantzer (SPD).

In addition to Haar, Taufkirchen and other municipalities are also applying for the favor of the start-up.

Which are they?

Isar Aerospace has not revealed this yet.

Where the company ultimately settles depends on the connection, infrastructure or trade tax rate.

Taufkirchen, for example, wants to reduce trade tax, said Gantzer.

The Haar decision is therefore only a signal.

If Isar Aerospace actually opted for hair, that would be a future perspective, but not an immediate solution to the hole in the household.

"If you are in favor of this project, it must be clear that there will be no trade tax revenue for the next ten to 15 years," warned Ton van Lier (Greens).
