Justin Trudeau and Boris Johnson's jokes about Vladimir Putin at the G7 summit didn't go down well.

The Kremlin boss now launched a counterattack.

Ashgabat - Ukraine war, global economic development, global crises: very serious issues were discussed at the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau in Bavaria.

Nevertheless, the heads of the most important industrialized countries in the western world were in a joking mood.

Their target: Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is currently waging a bloody war against Ukraine.

Putin counters jokes about him: Naked G7 leaders would be a "disgusting sight"

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his British counterpart Boris Johnson made fun of Putin.

Johnson asked whether one should take off one's jackets in view of the high temperatures, adding: "We all have to show that we are tougher than Putin."

Among other things, Trudeau had replied: Riding shirtless, you have to do that.

With the statement, he had alluded to a well-known photo of Vladimir Putin, which shows the Kremlin chief topless on a horse.

But the jokes didn't go down very well with Putin.

The Kremlin chief commented on this during his first trip abroad since the beginning of the Ukraine war.

"I don't know how they wanted to undress, above or below the waistline.

I think it would have been a disgusting sight in any case," Putin was quoted as saying by the Russian news agency Tass.

He said this to journalists in the Turkmen capital Ashgabat on Wednesday.

For the harmony between body and soul you have to do sports, not drink too much alcohol and give up other bad habits, Putin instructed the G7 heads of state and government.

Until the Russian annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, which belongs to Ukraine, in 2014, Russia was a participant in the expanded G8 summits.
