Ramparts, half-timberings and flowery streets.
After Hunspach (Bas-Rhin) in 2020 and Sancerre (Cher) in 2021, it was Bergheim that seduced the French invited to vote for their favorite village as part of the program broadcast on France 3 on June 29, and presented by Stéphane Bern.
Surrounded by ramparts and overlooked by the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle, Bergheim (Haut-Rhin), 2,300 inhabitants, is located along the Alsace wine route, between Colmar and Sélestat.
It retains several half-timbered houses dating from the 15th century and gate towers that mark the entrance to the town.
He is ahead of Hesdin, in Pas-de-Calais, and Quintin in Côtes-d'Armor.
Bergheim collects runners-up: the village joined the closed circle of "the most beautiful villages in France" on June 25.

For the France 3 broadcast, the French were invited to vote online or by telephone to defend the colors of their favorite village.
If there is no official call for applications, the villages that so wish can make themselves known to the program at the request of the mayor, tourist offices or the inhabitants themselves.
These towns are then pre-selected by Morgane Production, France Télévisions and Stéphane Bern himself.
In the end, a municipality is chosen to represent its region (13 for mainland France and one for the Overseas Territories).
In the case of Bergheim, it was the production company that contacted the mayor of this Alsatian village, Elisabeth Schneider.
"
They called to say
that they had selected us to represent the Grand Est region.
They found the village very beautiful and very well maintained
, ”says the mayor to France 3.
