Senior officials in Tehran spoke to Reuters and expressed frustration over the state of nuclear talks with the US • "Our enemies are praying for the failure of the negotiations," said a senior Islamic State official

Senior officials in Iran fear the system of alliances being forged in the Middle East between Israel and the moderate regimes in the Arab world, the Reuters news agency revealed today (Thursday) in a conversation with senior officials in the corridors of power in the Islamic Republic.

The call comes against the backdrop of the ongoing shuffle in nuclear talks between the United States and the powers.

"Times are changing, alliances in the Middle East are changing. Israel is sabotaging relations with Arab countries, and the United States supports it," a senior U.S. official told the Associated Press in frustration.

"These are serious threats to our stability, we can not allow it. Our enemies are praying to God for the failure of nuclear talks, but it will not happen," the source said.

A source close to the Revolutionary Guards told the New York Times yesterday that in the wake of calls for the removal of Iranian intelligence chief Hussein Taab, a senior commander of the Revolutionary Guards - Granel Ali Nasiri - was secretly arrested for espionage for Israel.

"Security breaches within Iran and the sheer scale of Israel's actions have really undermined our most powerful intelligence organization," former Iranian Vice President Muhammad Ali Abtahi said in a telephone conversation with the Times of Tehran.

"Our security strength has always been the bedrock of the Islamic Republic and it has been damaged in the past year," admitted the former senior member of the reformist camp currently in opposition to the Conservatives led by President Avirahim Raisi.
