End of the saga:
The Ministries of Transportation and Finance have reached an agreement with the Histadrut and the bus drivers 'organization, according to the agreement signed tonight (Thursday), the drivers' wages will increase to NIS 50 per hour.
This will put an end to the wave of protests around the issue and the strikes.
According to a statement from the Histadrut, most of the demands were accepted.
Meanwhile, next Sunday the parties will discuss the times for raising the drivers' wages, but it was agreed that the date for the increase will be until January 2023.
In recent weeks, there has been a large-scale protest campaign that included burning tires, shutting down public transportation for several hours and even arresting a spokesman for the drivers' union.
According to the organization, the campaign has caused ministry heads to dramatically raise drivers' salaries.
Yoav Simchi, chairman of the Histadrut, said: "Thank you to all the drivers, for the determined and stubborn struggle for the status of drivers.
Thanks to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transportation for proving that fair dialogue can be achieved through dialogue and dialogue.
We promised not to run over the drivers - and we kept it.
Updating drivers' salaries to NIS 50 per hour is a significant milestone on the way to resolving the manpower shortage in public transportation. "
Israel Ganon, chairman of the Public Transport Drivers 'Association, added: "Drivers' wages are beginning to advance to the right place, and in the run-up to the 2023 budget discussions, we will continue the struggle for recognition of the profession and industry seniority.
We have proven that when drivers are cohesive, things can be promoted that have been fixed and neglected for 50 years. '
Were we wrong?
Fixed!
