It's a rumor that swells like an abscess and that La France Insoumise wants to deflate as quickly as possible before it infects the party.
LFI's committee against sexual violence on Thursday defended MP Éric Coquerel, elected chairman of the National Assembly's Finance Committee, against "rumors about his behavior with women".
He claims to have never received a report about him.

"For several weeks, the deputy Éric Coquerel has been the object of attacks on social networks bearing suspicion on his behavior towards women, attacks which have amplified today following his election as chairman of the Finance Committee", writes the committee against gender-based and sexual violence in a press release.
No report to date
But "our committee has never received any report concerning the deputy Éric Coquerel, for any reason whatsoever", adds the body, which claims to be autonomous from the political direction of LFI.
If he is "available to listen to women and receive their testimonies", he "deplores the circulation of rumors not based on any concrete element and having the sole effect of casting suspicion on a person".
He condemns a “type of practice that does nothing to help fight effectively against sexist and sexual violence”.
Invited this Thursday on RTL, journalist Rokhaya Diallo accused Éric Coquerel of having suspicious behavior with certain women.
