Literary workshops, recreational activities and a theatrical performance hosted by the Children's Library in Thaqib Safita in Tartous Governorate during the summer holidays, which target children of different age groups and work to enhance and develop their intellectual and mental abilities.
Director of the Cultural Center in Safita Rania Abdel Latif said in a statement to SANA reporter that a variety of recreational, cultural, educational, literary and artistic activities were selected for this year’s summer vacation. A learning workshop (Write my story) and a reading marathon with summarization and lessons learned were held, in addition to a drawing and storytelling workshop, in addition to live workshops Including harvesting, making bamboo chairs, and showing targeted films.
Abdul Latif indicated that the purpose of these workshops is to develop children's abilities, educate them, fill their time and invest it with useful things, in addition to acquiring skills in various fields, pointing to the role of parents in encouraging their children to frequent cultural centers for their great role in refining their personality with confidence and developing their cognitive abilities.
The writer Ali Risha indicated that he participated in a workshop (Write My Story) twenty children from 8 to 15 years old, where they talked about the elements of the short story and how to write in an interesting and purposeful manner, and read and discuss several stories in an atmosphere full of interaction and activity, indicating the importance of the child knowing the difference between the short story and the story Long novel and encourage him to write by composing stories continuously.
Reem Ali indicated that the entertainment activity included dances and songs with the participation of 25 children, in addition to a theater show (Karkoz and Awaz), where the benevolent, educated character of Awaz was introduced, the illiterate character of Karakouz, and the strong friendship relationship that unites both characters.
She explained the importance of the show, especially that the children played the roles of Karakouz and Awaz, which reflects on their personality with confidence, initiative and lack of hesitation and encourages them to have more dialogue, in addition to finding and solving the problem around which the show revolves, and the show can be easily applied at home.
A number of children and adolescents expressed their joy at the activities held at the center, especially as it reflects in building their personality, increasing their skills, and filling their time with an atmosphere full of activity and vitality, as well as integration and meeting new friends.
