The Russian Ministry of Defense revealed that foreign fighters and mercenaries of the Nazi “Azov” battalion had equipped fortifications in a school in the Kramatorsk region of the Donetsk People’s Republic, and had taken civilians as human shields.

Russia Today website quoted the head of the Russian National Defense Center Mikhail Mezintsev as saying today, “In School No. 35 on Yubilinaya Street in Kramatorsk and in private homes on Aktyubinskaya Street, soldiers of the Kyiv forces, foreign mercenaries and fighters of the Nazi Azov battalion prepared fortified strongholds, sniper points, and deployed armored vehicles and mortar positions. While they forcibly keep civilians in the basements of houses and take them as human shields.”

"The fighters of the Ukrainian armed formations use educational institutions in Kharkov, Slaviansk and Nikolaev for military purposes, noting that in particular the Ukrainian forces use the Kharkov Technological School No. 9 to deploy armored vehicles, artillery and missile launch systems," he added.

"In Slavyansk, Donetsk People's Republic, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are deployed in the technical secondary school, armored vehicles, long-range artillery and rocket launchers are deployed, and the streets leading to the secondary school are mined, but the local population was deliberately not informed of this," he added.
