The protection community Erding-Nord, Freising and the surrounding area remains “on alert” as far as the 3rd runway is concerned.

At the general meeting on Tuesday in the Freising district office, not only did they take stock of the “relatively quiet years” since 2017 and elected a new chairman in Neufahrn’s mayor Franz Heilmeier, but they also emphasized that they were well prepared should there be further legal disputes regarding airport expansion come.

Airport – Former District Administrator and ex-Member of Parliament Manfred Pointner, who has been chairman of the Protection Association North since the end of 2014, could not return to his old place of work, as he is on sick leave, as his deputy Hans Wiesmaier said.

And that's why Pointner no longer stood for election, his successor Heilmeier took over his brief report on the past few years.

Above all, the Freising citizens' association was supported in its investigations into ultrafine dust pollution at and around the airport and a statement was written on the "perpetual building rights" claimed by FMG for the third runway, according to Heilmeier.

And you remain vigilant, continue to fight for the priority area for the runway to be deleted from the state development program.

"That no longer fits into this time," emphasized Wiesmaier.

As far as future disputes and actions are concerned, the protective community is “by no means empty-handed”, Wiesmaier explained to Karsten Schulze’s cash report.

Since 2017, around 126,000 euros in membership fees have been collected from 460 private individuals, 43 municipalities and three districts.

Because "only" 13,000 euros were spent during this time, the assets have grown to currently 271,000 euros.

The new elections went smoothly and without dissenting votes.

The new boss Heilmeier said about his Neufahrn community that it had been an important place in the airport resistance from the start.

He recalled Käthe Winkelmann and Pastor Ralf Guggenmoos as outstanding figures in defensive combat.

Heilmeier's deputies are Wiesmaier (Mayor of Fraunberg) and Marcel Fath (Mayor of Petershausen), Karsten Schulze remains the cashier and Michael Buchberger (BI Attaching) is the new secretary.

The assessors are Tobias Eschenbacher, Karl-Heinz Reingruber, Martin Ernst, Reinhard Huber and Wolfgang Herrmann.

Incidentally, the protective association was founded on December 6, 1967 with the aim of preventing the construction of the airport in the Erdinger Moos.

The first chairman at the time was Oberding's mayor Franz Schwaiger, whose community later benefited greatly from the airport in terms of taxation.

The protective community survived despite failing to achieve its original goal.

Initially, only the communities directly affected got involved, but when the flight routes were gradually published, almost all the surrounding communities showed solidarity.

Among other things, the protection association supports plaintiffs in court.
