Success makes you sexy.

The district is now feeling the effects.

Financially, he also got through the second year of Corona much better than expected.

The communities are already speaking up.

Erding - You want to benefit from the good development - and pay less money to the district in the future.

It was unexpectedly good numbers that the new district treasurer Markus Sicheneder presented to the district committee.

The fact that Corona has not torn such large holes in the finances is largely due to the fact that the administration has followed an iron austerity course.

But that can no longer be maintained.

The sum that the district has generated during ongoing operations (administrative budget) and can now use this for investments (asset budget) shows how well the budget was managed.

Originally, the amount was only 2.2 million euros.

According to Sicheneder, it is now almost 16.5 million euros.

What was it?

All departments had to save 20 percent of their budgets.

There was also a three-month ban on reoccupation.

More than half a million euros more than planned was reimbursed for the corona screening points.

And for building permits and land transfer tax, the district took 1.4 million or 810,000 euros more than calculated.

Erding was reimbursed 1.4 million euros more than expected for public transport.

In addition, Sicheneder reported on a number of so-called budget remnants for projects that were started but not completed in 2021.

These alone add up to almost six million euros.

At this point, Hans Wiesmaier (CSU) hooked in.

As district chairman of the municipal council, the mayor of Fraunberg is the spokesman for all 26 heads of town hall.

In that capacity, he stated: “This is generally good news.

However, the figures also show that the municipalities need to be relieved of the district levy.” Wiesmaier is already demanding this for the upcoming deliberations on the 2023 district budget in autumn.

The municipalities have to raise 114 million for the current budget, with a district allocation of 51.7 points.

This means that a municipality has to pay more than half of its income to the district.

What Wiesmaier did not say, but may have meant: the district levy must be reduced.

He also addressed the budgetary expenditure residues.

If it contains projects that were not even tackled, it would have to be discussed anew based on the current financial situation.

As an example, he cited the postponed renovation of the secondary schools in Erding and Taufkirchen.

District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer (CSU) countered here: "We promised the schools that we would tackle this in 2023."

Thomas Bauer (CSU) asked about the effects of the temporary hiring freeze.

His impression is not that the work has suffered as a result.

"But what about the staff?" Bayerstorfer replied: "You can only do something like that once and for a limited time." Anything else is unreasonable.

Not much was missing, "and there would have been cuts in the work".

Ulla Dieckmann (SPD) said: "I agreed once, but I won't do it again."

What is added to the (unexpectedly) good financial result of 2021: According to Sicheneder, the reserves have risen to a new record level of 15.2 million euros.

They were lowest in 2018 at 3.2 million euros.

At the same time, the debt fell to 13.5 million euros.

In 2009 it was almost 28 million euros.

The treasurer noted: "This also relieves the budget and thus the municipalities."
