From July 1st, a new dietary allowance will apply to members of the Bundestag - which will ensure a decent salary increase in the traffic light coalition.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) will receive more than 30,000 euros a month for his work from Friday.
This emerges from a response from the federal government to a request from the AfD, which is available to SPIEGEL.
The "Bild" newspaper reported about it first.
The increase is made possible by new diets for parliamentarians.
According to the request, Scholz will receive 30,189.81 euros per month in the future.
The basis is a basic salary of almost 25,000 euros, which is calculated from salary group B11 according to the Federal Ministers Act.
Because Scholz is also a member of the Bundestag, he can keep half of his MP compensation.
In April, the Bundestag decided to increase the diet.
After two years of declining income, an average of 300 euros more is now being transferred.
From Friday on, the parliamentarians will be allocated 10,323.29 euros a month, the income must be taxed.
The increase applies to all MPs in the House, i.e. not only the governing parties but also the AfD, CDU/CSU and Left party parliamentary groups.
In addition, there is a tax-free expense allowance of 4583.39 euros for the MPs.
Parliamentarians with children can look forward to an additional EUR 145.60 per month per child.
Lambrecht gets nothing
The grants are adjusted annually on July 1st.
The basis is the average wage plus, which is calculated by the Federal Statistical Office.
In addition to Scholz, several other traffic light cabinet members will benefit from the increase.
Economics Minister Robert Habeck will receive 25,573.08 euros plus special allowances until the next round.
There is also a higher salary for the other ministers who have a seat in Parliament.
That also means: Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht will not receive a salary increase, she has no mandate in the Bundestag.
Your parliamentary state secretary Siemtje Möller, on the other hand, will soon earn a higher basic salary than your boss at 21,0604.43 euros.
However, Lambrecht will still be awarded daily allowances and travel expenses.
