Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the West's unchecked economic policies are the reason for the imbalance in the global food market, pointing out that the sanctions against Russian ports create difficulties in the global markets for food and fertilizers.
Putin added during a joint press conference today with his Indonesian counterpart, Jaco Widodo, that Western countries, which do not want to admit the mistake of their economic path, are further destabilizing global agricultural production by imposing restrictions on the supply of Russian and Belarusian fertilizers, which makes it difficult to export Russian grain to world markets and complicates the insurance of Cargo ships carrying grain and making bank payments under commercial contracts.
Putin pointed out that the disruption of food markets is a direct result of many years of irresponsible economic policies of a number of countries, uncontrolled spending and accumulation of unsecured debts, which were exacerbated by the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.
Putin had confirmed during a previous meeting he held with Widodo that Moscow does not in any way restrict the export of fertilizers and foodstuffs, nor does it impede the process of transporting Ukrainian grain to world markets.
On the mutual trade relations between Russia and Indonesia, Putin noted that the trade exchange with Indonesia increased by 40 percent last year because Indonesia is a major partner of Russia in the Asia-Indian Ocean region, pointing out that the Rosatom Corporation is ready to participate in several projects to implement nuclear technologies in Indonesia.
