The next construction site at Tegernsee is approaching: On Monday, July 4th, the general renovation of the Alpbach bridge at the Tegernsee through road begins.

The main road will be blocked on one side.

– Every day, thousands of cars and heavy trucks roll over the Alpbach bridge in the Tegernsee through road.

That leaves traces.

The bridge from the 1960s needs a general overhaul.

Work on the B 307 will start on Monday, July 4th and will probably last until October 21st.

Until then, traffic delays are to be expected.

Renovation to delay new construction of bridge

Zacharias Kleber, Head of the Structural Engineering department at the Rosenheim State Building Authority, says: “The bridge mainly shows signs of age-related damage.

With the general renovation, we are structurally repairing the bridge again for the next few decades and thus preventing the bridge from being demolished prematurely and having to be rebuilt.” In the course of the measure, the bridge caps with the sidewalk and railings will first be demolished and the road surface will be removed.

The exact damage to the superstructure made of reinforced concrete is then assessed.

The state building authority expects a construction period of three and a half months

After the repair work on the superstructure, the roadway slab will be sealed again, the curbs set, the pavement caps concreted, a new railing installed and finally a new roadway surface applied.

All in all, if everything goes smoothly, it will take three and a half months.

Traffic may continue to flow on the B 307 - but only on one side

The State Building Authority decided to renovate the Alpbach Bridge by closing it on one side in order to keep traffic obstructions as low as possible, says Kleber.

During the entire renovation period, traffic will be guided over the bridge with a traffic-dependent construction site traffic light on a narrow lane.

Road users are asked to be particularly careful in the construction site area.

Since the renovation of the Alpbach bridge involves work on a federal highway bridge, the federal government bears the costs of around 500,000 euros.
