Two new SPD city councilors were sworn in: Regina Haugg and Tobias Fuhrmann.

Her predecessors had to resign for health reasons.

Schongau – Has there ever been as many changes in the city council as in this legislative period?

The SPD faction leader Ilona Böse doubted it in the most recent city council meeting.

As is well known, Theresa and Janaina Subiabre Haseitl (Greens) had already resigned their mandates – Esra Böse and Markus Keller had moved up.

Thomas Schleich had switched from the CSU to the UWV.

Now the next upheaval in the committee was imminent.

"Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to two very longstanding and experienced colleagues," says Böse.

Friedrich Zeller and Barbara Karg (both SPD) had applied to resign from office for health reasons.

The city council still had to agree to this - even if it was very difficult for him to call up the agenda item, according to Mayor Falk Sluyterman.

The decision was unanimous.

Ilona Böse read a message from Barabara Karg, who regretted not being able to attend in person.

"I'm very sorry to be leaving the city council after more than 25 years," Karg said.

She will miss something, after all, city council work has long been a part of her life.

An interesting, often exhausting time that she would not want to miss.

We will certainly run into each other again, after all, she will remain a native of Schongau.

She wishes her successors, Regina Haugg and Tobias Fuhrmann, a lot of fun working for the city of Schongau and its citizens.

Zeller and Karg both started in 1996, Böse recalled.

Karg as city councilwoman, Zeller as mayor.

The fact that he continued as a city councilor after his time as mayor (12 years) and district administrator (6 years) "was really great for me," says Böse.

He always had visions.

Even if these went too quickly for some, they were always an enrichment.

Everyone would have benefited from his expertise.

Barbara Karg was also an asset thanks to her sensitive nature, so Böse.

"She always had her ear to the citizen and was ideally suited as a senior citizen officer.

She did a great job," said Böse.

"For me it is important to say 'thank you' for extraordinary commitment" by Karg and Zeller.

"We not only lose colleagues, but also friends," said Böse, visibly moved.

Regina Haugg becomes Senior Citizens' Advisor in Schongau

As difficult as it is to say goodbye, she is still looking forward to those who move up.

There can be no talk of a difficult legacy.

"It's a great legacy." It's nice that Regina Haugg and Tobias Fuhrmann are taking office.

"I look forward to a good cooperation.

After Haugg and Fuhrmann were sworn in, the two received their chains of office from the mayor.

The committees were reassigned.

Fuhrmann becomes a member of the works committee and assembly of the middle school association.

Haugg becomes a member of the Heiliggeist Hospital Foundation Committee.

She is now a senior advisor.

City council successors are deputy local chairmen of the SPD

Tobias Fuhrmann (37) and Regina Haugg (61), according to Böse "two veterans of Schongau" - are both deputy local chairmen of the SPD in Schongau.

In the 2020 election campaign, both ran for the city council for the first time - and it worked out right away to move into the committee.

Even if they are a bit late, they are happy and laughing.

Of course they had some time to think about whether they wanted to accept the task and move up.

For Fuhrmann, however, that was immediately clear.

"There was no doubt," says Haugg.

As a nurse, the topic of health has accompanied her all her life, says Haugg.

It is therefore particularly important to her.

She is already involved in the hospital action alliance.

"We'll see what tasks we're given and try to get them done in the spirit of the people of Schongau." Tobias Fuhrmann, who works as a photographer, wants to help the city flourish.

"Turn small wheels and thereby achieve big changes." And to continue the work of the city council in the spirit of his predecessor.

Haugg wants that too.

Sluyterman announced that Karg and Zeller will be given a dignified farewell at a later date.
