The typhoon season has begun, and Tropical Storm Siamba has intensified and approached the coast of western Guangdong, causing the Observatory to issue the first alert signal No. 1 this year.

However, this morning (30th), before the storm came, many citizens witnessed double rainbows hanging in the clear sky in various districts, and some citizens even photographed the moment when the plane passed between the two rainbows.

In addition, yesterday (29th), some members of the public also photographed the spectacle of a rainbow close to the sea level in Wu Kaisha, like a rainbow floating on the sea.

The outer rainbands of Tropical Storm Siam hit Hong Kong, making Hong Kong cloudy this afternoon with squally showers and thunderstorms.

However, between 6:00 and 7:00 this morning, the weather did not turn bad, and blue sky and white clouds could still be seen occasionally.

During the rainy days, many citizens also photographed double rainbows in various districts, including Tsing Yi, Jordan, Cheung Chau and Sha Tin, etc. Some citizens even photographed planes passing between the two rainbows.

In addition, some members of the public also photographed the "rainbow at sea" yesterday.

Double rainbows appeared in each area. According to the Observatory's website, when sunlight passes through water droplets, it will be refracted, reflected and then refracted.

When the light is reflected once in the water droplet, a common rainbow is formed, that is, the main rainbow; if the light is reflected twice in the water droplet, the second rainbow is produced, that is, "neon".

The observatory pointed out that because each reflection will lose some light energy, the brightness of the neon is also weak, and the color sequence of the neon is reversed from that of the main rainbow.

The Observatory also stated that in order to see the rainbow atmosphere, there must be enough water droplets, so most of them are seen in the rainy days, or in places with more water vapor, such as waterfalls.

If citizens want to take pictures of rainbows, they generally have to turn their backs to the sun.

On June 29, some citizens photographed the spectacle of a rainbow close to the sea level in Wuxisha, like a rainbow floating on the sea.

The Observatory's automatic camera captured the rainbow in the Victoria Harbour and the Jesus Light Mid-Autumn Festival and the Moon Chasing Shower with the full moon rainbow appearing suddenly.
