The best way to overcome this evil inclination is by studying the Torah (Photo: ShutterStock)

This coming Shabbat he will recite in the synagogue a Torah portion in which the Torah commands us the commandment of a red heifer: "This is the law of the Torah.

The Admor Rabbi Josiah Pinto, delved into the parsha and learned a great foundation from it, and it is: The best way to overcome this evil inclination is by studying the Torah.

And so Rabbi Pinto said in his lesson

: What is the meaning of "this is the constitution of the Torah"?

But perhaps it is possible to clarify and say according to the words of the author of the miracle (beautiful face, P. standing) on the verse (Deuteronomy 5:15) "Behold, I have set before you today life and the good" and the Gemara says The evil instinct, if they won, it would be better and if not, he would deal with the Torah.

On this gemara there is a famous question, the gemara says that a person who wants to overcome the evil inclination will learn Torah, if he overcomes the evil inclination good, if studying Torah did not help him he will recite Shema, if reciting Shema did not help he will remember the day of death.

The commentators ask why the person will not immediately mention the day of death and shorten the whole way, for what should he mention studying Torah and reciting Shema and only if not a winner will he mention the day of death?

But one must know a great element, says the wonder-possessor a man who overcomes the evil instinct by reminding him of the day of death, he overcomes the evil instinct in one one-time blow not with power further but once, at that moment subdued the evil instinct but has no strength to strengthen He has no power for the Torah, he has no power for anything.

The evil instinct came to defeat him he reminded him of the day of death and subdued him and with that he ended.

But if a person sits and studies Torah and by the power of the Torah defeats the evil instinct, then he has a strong psychic power over time to continue to deal with the evil instinct, it is not just one-time as he was reminded of the day of death and defeated the instinct. , But the victory over the evil instinct in the power of Torah study leaves in the human psyche powers also for the future to defeat the evil instinct.

That is why the Gemara says first of all that man will learn Torah, if he failed to recite Kish, he failed to give this momentary blow of remembering the day of death which is a momentary victory, not a victory over time that builds in the human soul psychic powers.

If we look at the whole matter of a red cow, a red cow comes to purify the person from dead impurity, to remind him of the day of death.

So the Torah came to tell us it is not the victory in the red cow, but "this is the law of the Torah" first of all man will learn Torah to defeat the evil instinct, purify the soul and after man has learned and failed will give the momentary blow of red cow to mention the day of death.

But the great virtue of man is to follow the order that the Torah taught us to study Torah, to recite Shema and then to commemorate the day of death.

And so the Gemara says (Kiddushin L :) I created the evil instinct and I created for it the Torah as a spice.

The true and good way to overcome the evil instinct is only by the Holy Torah, because if a person studies Torah he overcomes the evil instinct a strong victory with strength and psychic powers.

If a person mentions the day of death he overcomes the evil instinct but for his time and not for long, the evil instinct will return again.

With Torah study, man subdues the evil instinct over time and gives himself psychic powers.
