Berglern – The Berglern elementary school is the first and only elementary school in the district of Erding to have been recognized as a Fairtrade school.
Now the seal extension has been ceremonially celebrated, in which the director of the education department of Erding, Robert Leiter, district administrator Martin Bayerstorfer is the patron, as well as mayor Anton Scherer.
“The school’s sustainability project week in the context of everyday skills” also took place.
Bayerstorfer thanked the children for using Fairtrade to make things better for others.
School director Robert Leiter said that the topic of the project week did not have to be introduced here, it has been practiced here for a long time and added that school for life has been taking place here for a long time.
Anton Scherer explained that he thinks it's fantastic that the children in Berglern have been trained in sustainability and fair trade since 2018 at primary school age and can thus acquire these so-called everyday skills.
"The students," says Scherer, "are also sending a very important signal to the outside world with this global topic."
Raiffeisenbank Erding supports the elementary school's fair trade project.
Josef Numberger presented headmistress Sabine Hoffmann with a check for 250 euros.
The Raiffeisenbank is also financing two raised beds.
