The clothing store of the “Brucker helfen der Ukraine” association has been housed in the Kohl fashion store for more than three months.

But it's over at the end of July.

Fürstenfeldbruck - Then the rooms are rented to someone else.

The association still wants to continue to help – albeit in a different form.

After the beginning of the Ukraine war, a group around Moritz Hickethier, Florian Weber and Andreas Rothenberger set up a network under the motto "We'll help for a moment".

But there is no longer any talk of short.

Since then, many volunteers have been involved in transporting aid to the Polish-Ukrainian border, handing out clothing and supporting the refugees in the district town.

200 visitors per day

The offer is adapted to the needs: while the refugees came to the fashion house every day to get clothes and food from the community foundation, the clothing store is now only open three days a week.

Around 200 people come there every opening day, reports Andreas Rothenberger.

Clothing, toys and more are still in demand - but not only that. "The fashion house is now also used as a meeting place." And these social contacts are very important for the refugees in Fürstenfeldbruck.

"That's why we want to see that we can maintain this meet and greet."

Distribution to other chambers

Because the former fashion house will no longer be available as a meeting place and clothing store from the end of July.

In September, gingerbread sales will return to the premises – the Ukraine helpers knew that too.

Therefore, the end of July will be closed in order to be able to clear out in peace this time.

"We will try to distribute the clothes to the various clothing stores," says Rothenberger.

The same applies to the donations in kind, which are currently still in a hall on the Braumiller farm in Alling - but which will soon be used for the harvest.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular

FFB newsletter.)

However, the association wants to continue to be the point of contact for the Ukrainian community in the city.

"We'll stay there as an information platform," promises Rothenberger.

Interpreting, dealing with authorities, orientation help - all of this is still in demand.

Because now fewer refugees are arriving - on the contrary: "It's going in the other direction." So it is now important to support the people who are building a new life here.

There will therefore not be a clothing store at another location.

Rather, one considers setting up a meeting place.

But that's not ready to say yet.

Food

Club activities will continue as normal until the end of July.

Once a month there is another transport to Lublin – they recently picked up hospital beds.

In addition, the money donated is used to buy groceries – for the refugees at the border, but also for the local food banks.

For this reason, monetary donations are currently the most helpful, explains Rothenberger.

The network, which only wanted to help briefly, has now grown to a core of around 120 people.

There is also good cooperation with the Corona Neighborhood Aid, which looks after the refugee accommodation in the Hotel Hasenheide.

Registration as a non-profit association is currently in progress.

This means that the name will also change: Because under the title "Kurz mal helfen eV" the group wants to stay together even after the end of the war.

"We noticed that we are a good team that can tackle things."
