Today concluded the sessions of the workshop on intangible cultural heritage, which was organized over four days by the Ministry of Culture - Directorate of Intangible Heritage at Al-Assad National Library in Damascus.
The first session of the last day was devoted to discussing (the governance framework for managing the file of the intangible cultural heritage in Syria), which was moderated by a member of the Board of Trustees of the Syrian Trust for Development, Fares Kallas, and was attended by the Legal Counsel at the Ministry of Culture, Bashir Ezz El-Din, the Director of Legal Affairs at the Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, Ayman Suleiman, and the Director of Planning and Cooperation. International in the Ministry of Tourism, engineer era leader and plastic critic Saad Al-Qasim.
The interlocutors focused on the role of law in the process of managing the intangible cultural heritage file and its relationship with the administration and the role of governmental and non-governmental institutions in coordination and cooperation in this field, in addition to discussing centralization and decentralization in the management of the Syrian intangible cultural heritage.
In the last session, the Director of the Directorate of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Ministry of Culture, Engineer Rola Aqili, presented the draft results and recommendations for the workshop, and they were discussed with the participants in order to be reformulated in the final form to be published on the official website of the Ministry.
Over the course of four days, the workshop discussed the current reality, the legislative and legal environment, the risks and threats facing the intangible cultural heritage, the opportunities and challenges, the national priorities and the strategic objectives of working in the field of the intangible cultural heritage in Syria.
