To the body of the matter: On the Abortion Storm in the United States | Israel Today

Pregnancy and childbirth charge women high prices, such that naturally men are unable to understand • Here the discussion about abortions was supposed to stop

We saw it coming.

The leak of the US Supreme Court's intent to overturn the ruling against Roe Wade, which went on to allow states to ban abortions on their territory, came almost two months ago - and still, we did not believe. We did not want to believe. Maybe this is an exercise, maybe a move Rather to prevent the reversal of that historic ruling.

But last Friday nothing fell.

The following is a summary, for the benefit of those who missed it: The 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling stated that women have a right to privacy, and therefore, to abortion.

The right is enshrined in the constitution, so states are not allowed to ban abortions independently on their territory.

If you think this is a liberal ruling who knows what, it is important to explain that Roe v. Wade also dealt with abortions only in the early stages of pregnancy.

After that, states can already intervene, restrict and even ban a break.

In Republican countries, on the other hand, lawmakers have done everything they can to restrict and make it difficult for women seeking abortion and family planning centers to close: laws that treat women as careless creatures that make such decisions casually, laws that disparage not only women's intelligence, But also in the healthy biological connection that exists between every mature woman, clear-minded, healthy and balanced, and the fetus that grows in her womb.

Until last Friday - when a panel of judges with a conservative majority decided to reverse the ruling and thus gave the green light to half of the US states to ban abortions immediately, even in cases of rape, incest, abnormal fetal development and even if there is a real danger to the mother's life.

For the avoidance of doubt, women in these countries will not stop having abortions.

The rich will perform safe and legal abortions outside the country, while poor women, those who have less means, education and connections to decide their fate, those who are promiscuous, they and their children, to violence and poverty - those women will have to choose between having an illegal abortion, which could endanger their lives , And to give birth to an unwanted child, to be torn from it later or to grow up with a mother who was not willing to take care of him - mentally, physically or financially.

For anyone who would argue that the American Constitution said nothing and a half about abortions, it is worth remembering that the Constitution was written 235 years ago by and for men.

Even the right of women to vote was added as a correction only a century ago.

The constitution, by the way, also does not say anything and a half about the purchase of automatic weapons at the supermarket, and precisely with this the new judges of the American Supreme Court have no problem.

To male readers: You may not know about it, but the vast majority of you personally know women who have terminated their pregnancies.

Since the State of Israel does not prohibit abortions, they did so, fortunately, in a way that does not endanger their health.

Pregnancy and childbirth (not to mention raising a child) charge women high prices, not everyone is aware of them, not everyone is able to understand them.

Here, in my opinion, the debate should have stopped.

But for some reason, even in 2022 men continue to make decisions for a woman's body.

Whether it's a burqa, a 'voice in a pubic woman', radio stations where you will not hear women at all or parties that do not allow women to run for Knesset - it is always one limiting, dictating party that holds the power to make decisions for the other party.

This is also due to the basic personal insecurity of half of the population, and no, it's never because of what you're wearing.

My little son is one year and four months old.

Thank God - he is healthy, sweet and very desirable.

When I get up at three in the morning, when he wakes up for the fourth time that night, when he is sick, when he has a tooth, when he is by no means ready to stop screaming, when I am frustrated, when I break down, when I cry from exhaustion - I sometimes think of these abandoned women in the USA "B: Those who get up to a child who did not want him and those who do not manage to get up, and I pray - only that we do not go back. There is nothing to talk about Kadima at the moment.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
