Turkey announces first case of monkeypox

The Turkish Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, announced today the registration of the first case of monkeypox in the country.

"The patient is 37 years old and suffering from a weak immune system," Koca said in a tweet on Twitter.

Koca indicated that the patient was isolated after the discovery of the infection, while the people in contact with him are being followed up, pointing out that no other case has been discovered so far.
