The special assize court of Paris sentenced on Friday July 1 to fifteen years of criminal imprisonment, accompanied by a two-thirds security period, a 27-year-old former gendarme prosecuted for having advocated armed jihad in Western countries.

The young man, judged for participation in a terrorist association of criminals with a view to the preparation of one or more crimes of attack on persons, will also have to comply with a socio-judicial follow-up (SSJ) of five years to the outcome of his sentence.
Dylan Toussaint was spotted by the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) at the end of 2017 because of his suspicious activities on social networks.
Converted to Islam
Under various pseudonyms, he advocated "
the ideology of Islamist terrorist groups, in particular the Islamic State organization
" and encouraged "
the commission of violent acts in Western countries
", noted the prosecution.
He was arrested in January 2018 “
in view of the risk of the imminence of a possible violent act
”.
The young man had trained as a student policeman during which he had been trained in the handling of weapons.
Assigned to the Lunel brigade (Hérault) in July 2017, he resigned two months later.
During his interrogations, the young man indicated that he had converted to Islam in 2014 at the age of 20: "

He also told investigators that the war in Syria had prompted him to take an interest in jihadist groups, but also assured that he had never intended to go to the area and explained that he had watched videos of exactions out of unhealthy curiosity.

Dylan Toussaint finally admitted having made "
violent remarks
" and "
talked about plans for attacks
" on Telegram with "
brothers
" - including an undercover agent from the DGSI whom he allegedly asked how to obtain weapons - but that this was "
not serious
".
During further questioning, he admitted that the idea of acting out.
