Just search on Google "Unsubscribe from Amazon Prime" to understand that it is far from simple as the number of tutorials is important.
But it will soon be over: the multinational has bowed to the European Commission, which asked it to facilitate the procedure.
"The platform will allow consumers in the European Union to unsubscribe from Amazon Prime in just two clicks," the Commission said in a statement.
Until today, an Amazon Prime subscriber had to make several clicks to be able to unsubscribe, each page pushing the user a little more not to cancel.
"Consumers had to scroll through several pages containing distracting information and unclear button labels", observes in its press release the European Commission, noting that in 2021 Amazon had already made some changes to facilitate unsubscription.
Unsubscribe as easy as subscribing
How do we unsubscribe now?
“The platform will now allow consumers to unsubscribe in two simple steps, thanks to an easy and visible cancellation button”, writes the European Commission, this Friday.
This new operation came into effect this Friday: the intermediate pages are reduced and the information clearer than before.
"Opting for an online subscription can be very convenient for consumers as it is often a very simple process, but the reverse action of unsubscribing should be just as simple", observes the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, in charge of consumer rights.
Consumers must be able to exercise their rights without any pressure from the platforms.
