Unexpected mail was in the mailboxes of numerous Oberdinger these days: flyers on which speeders and other traffic offenders are addressed in clear words.

According to the unknown author - even the town hall does not know who is behind it - it is a "little traffic etiquette to refresh and to think".

Oberding – Not only non-resident drivers are being targeted, but also our own citizens.

The municipality sees the whole thing on request and points out that the situation has long since improved.

The handout does not skimp on pithy words.

"Unfortunately, for many people, consideration is mutating more and more into a superfluous virtue," it says, followed by the somewhat nasty advice: "Please have the flyer read to you if you too have forgotten how to read after your driver's license test." The author thanks at least those who already obeyed the traffic rules.

In the following, three signs are explained and what they mean under no circumstances.

You shouldn't think about the Oberding town sign: "Basst uh koana on and in the country it's not so narrow." Or just not: "Minimum speed 50 km/h, definitely not slower.

This is my home, this is where I make the rules.”

"What a rubbish, I knew how to walk straight away": The author warns against such a thought with regard to the 30 km/h sign.

Incidentally, that does not mean that all other rules, such as right before left, will be abolished.

According to the not entirely humorless memoir writer, some road users only see country lanes approved for agriculture as a “secret way to drive blood alcohol” or as a “racetrack for hormone-controlled youngsters”.

It is sad that "not only strangers to the area, but also many local residents repeatedly and increasingly frequently disregard these really simple rules," regrets the author.

Parking bans are also ignored.

Cyclists and pedestrians are usually left behind, “and the main road is increasingly being confused with an expressway”.

"Only by the way", according to the stranger, "the daily parent-taxi traffic chaos at the school" should be mentioned.

The conclusion of the leaflet: "A good driver is not characterized by speed and volume, but foresight and consideration" - for friends, neighbors, children and animals.

Our newspaper asked the town hall of Oberding how the reminder was received there.

Josef Steinkirchner, manager of the administrative community, sees it quite calmly and says that the note was taken as a free expression of opinion.

An employee at City Hall also had the note in the mailbox.

“The parents interfered too often”

In terms of content, Steinkirchner does not see the situation as narrowly as the author.

Especially since the situation in the municipality - which is severely affected by traffic - has improved anyway.

Steinkirchner refers to the speedometers that the municipality has set up at the entrances to larger towns.

Many who are traveling too fast would not do so for the sake of racing.

A visual incentive in the form of the speedometer is helpful in most cases.

Oberding a haven for numerous traffic offenders?

You definitely don't see it that way in the town hall.
