The Directorate of Agriculture in As-Suwayda initially estimated the governorate’s total production of grapes for the current season at more than 54 thousand tons.
The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Ayham Hamed, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that the estimated production for this season is good compared to the rest of the fruit trees, indicating that the total area planted with grape-producing vines in the governorate is 9977 hectares, and the total number of trees in it is about 4 million and 750 thousand trees, of which the fruit is 4 million and 250 thousand Tree.
Hamed added that the cultivation of the vine tree is one of the basic cultivations in the governorate and is spread in many areas, especially in Dahr al-Jabal, al-Kafr, Mayamas, al-Sahwa, Arman, Qanawat, Ma'falah and Shahba.
As-Suwayda governorate produced about 68,557 tons of grapes last season.
