The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned this Thursday about an outbreak of listeria that has left at least one death and 22 hospitalizations in the country.
Health authorities have not yet identified which food is causing the spread of the deadly bacteria, but have warned that all affected people are Florida residents or have recently traveled to the state.
In total, 12 infections have been registered in Florida, two in New York, two in Massachusetts, one in New Jersey, one in Pennsylvania, one in Georgia, one in Illinois, one in Minnesota, one in Kansas and another in Colorado.

Therefore, they ask the public to be aware of the symptoms of listeriosis infection,
which include fever, muscle pain, nausea and diarrhea.
Listeria can be treated with antibiotics, but it is especially dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with compromised immune systems.
