Why make it complicated when it can be simple?
Why look sad when you can be happy?
It is in this spirit that Breitling is revisiting its Superocean Slow Motion from the 1960s and 1970s this summer. A diver's watch that stood out from its counterparts from the outset by its biases.
First, remove the seconds hand since it is basically not very useful for a diver.
It will suddenly be replaced by a chronograph based on the minutes, nicknamed “Slow Motion”, taking one hour to make a complete rotation of the dial.
Added to this was a high-contrast dial ring on the minute scale, for legibility under the waves.
For the same reason, thick luminescent thick sticks acted as indexes.
"Most diving watches have a fairly similar look, but Slow Motion has always stood out,"
said Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling.
We are very pleased to present our modern version of this classic, the all-new Superocean.”
A new collection unveiled in Biarritz, during the Wheels & Waves festival, notably in the presence of surfers Andrew Cotton, Jérémy Florès and Natxo Gonzalez, actors Guillaume Canet and Álvaro Morte (Spain) and chef Juan Arbelaez, all friends or ambassadors of Mark.

Available in four sizes (46, 44, 42 and 36 mm), this new Superocean (from 4350 euros) retains the requirements of a serious diver's watch, between water resistance to 300 meters, hands and indexes coated with Super-LumiNova .
The square minute hand, characteristic of Slow Motion, makes a comeback along with the high-contrast minute scale.
Its scratch-, wear- and fade-resistant ceramic inlaid bezel is unidirectional, except on the 46mm version, bidirectional and equipped with a patented lock.
Inside these divers, there is an automatic Breitling 17 caliber guaranteed for two years and with a power reserve of approximately 38 hours.
But in addition to its serious technical characteristics, this new Superocean also plays it fashion engraving, a matter of surveying pontoons and evenings from Biarritz to St Barth.
First, it comes in three different case metals – steel, steel-gold and bronze (42mm and 44mm).
But then there are the colored dials – black, white, olive, orange and turquoise – which make all the difference in terms of style.

On the bracelet side, Breitling enthusiasts will have the choice between a sporty rubber strap and a new three-row metal bracelet, both with a handy folding clasp allowing micro-adjustments to within 15 mm.
A special edition Superocean Automatic 42 Kelly Slater limited to 1000 pieces has also been designed in collaboration with the legendary surfing champion.
It pairs a bright orange dial with a military green rubber strap, both inspired by the colors of the watch that Kelly Slater's father wore while surfing.
