The Covid-19 epidemic is experiencing a rebound in Guadeloupe with 2,299 new cases during the first four days of the week, the prefecture announced on Friday July 1 as the summer holidays approach.
“The number of people tested positive has significantly increased compared to the first four days of the
(last) week
: 2,299 against 1,552, an increase of 48%
,” said the prefecture of Guadeloupe in a press release.

This rebound had prompted the authorities on Thursday to extend the health measures in force upon entry into Guadeloupe territory.
Thus, travelers to Guadeloupe will have to present a negative PCR or antigen test, or a certificate of recovery for those who have contracted the virus, or display a complete vaccination schedule.
The hospital has also put in place measures to curb the tension induced by this rebound.
Since June 15, emergencies no longer welcome patients who have not gone through the Samu, Center 15 beforehand, between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., warned in a press release the management of the CHU of Guadeloupe.

According to the press release from the prefecture, the incidence rate jumped, from one week to the next, from 649.5 to 770.3.
The test positivity rate fell from 18.3% to 20.2%.
At the same time, the number of clusters is also always increasing, according to the same source.
In Guadeloupe, according to the latest health bulletin, only 25% of the population is triple vaccinated.
