The Corona expert report is here.

FDP politician Philipp Hartewig criticized Merkur.de for "fatal" measures in sports and schools.

Berlin – The Corona Expert Council deals with the Corona policy on 160 pages.

From the expert's point of view, the effects and side effects of individual rules can hardly be assessed in isolation (virologist Streeck: "Every measure has its time").

However, there was criticism above all for lockdowns and access restrictions such as 2G and 3G.

The FDP had demanded this report significantly, now speaks of a "general settlement with politics and the RKI" (Bavaria FDP boss Martin Hagen) and a "shattering report" that must result in the dismissal of RKI boss Lothar Wieler ( Federal Deputy Wolfgang Kubicki).

The sports policy spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group, Philipp Hartewig, told

from IPPEN.MEDIA above all “painful insights” in dealing with mass sport and school closures.

FDP criticizes Corona policy: "The sports facility closures were wrong"

Due to the corona, sporting activities in Germany have long been severely restricted.

In Hamburg you had to jog with a mask.

In Bavaria, only low-contact sports were allowed for a long time.

This resulted in restrictions, for example for football clubs or indoor sports, which were even more affected.

Many clubs came to a standstill and were only allowed to train and play under 2G-3G conditions.

The greater the number of infections, the fewer sporting events for amateurs.

According to the German Football Association, only 0.07 percent of all 145,000 teams in Germany were active in February 2021.

right?

"The sports facility closures were wrong," states Hartewig, who complained about sports-related measures at the Bautzen Administrative Court in early 2021.

Without success.

A little later, however, the rules were relaxed in Saxony as in many federal states.

In the amateur soccer season that just ended, the game could be played without major restrictions and without major cases of infection.

Hartewig feels confirmed in his assessments at the time: "As expected, sports facilities are not infection drivers."

This image supports the society for aerosol research, especially in outdoor activities.

“Football is completely harmless.

You have to take a closer look at indoor sports, but I think fear is inappropriate here, too,” it said at the beginning of 2021, when many events were banned.

Philipp Hartewig, born in Chemnitz in 1994, has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2021.

Corona Expert Council: School closures have consequences for the health of the youngest

The evaluation report does not directly address the effectiveness of sport restrictions.

However, there is talk of measures with "doubtful sense" such as a mask requirement outdoors.

The expert commission is more concerned with the physical effects of school closures.

The experts report on a study from the USA, according to which the body mass index (BMI) of children and thus their weight increased as a result of school closures.

"A number of studies have also shown that school closures have increased screen time and weight gain and decreased physical activity," the report said.

Longer school closures, such as during lockdown times, would “have a negative impact on children’s health,” write the experts working with virologists Hendrik Streeck or Klaus Stöhr.

Christian Drosten left the expert commission in April.

FDP on Corona policy: "The consequences for our youngest are fatal"

Hartewig rates the findings as "painful" and says: "The effects could have been avoided through a clever and skilful corona policy through many milder measures." The past corona policy, which the FDP has been helping to shape in the traffic light coalition since autumn, I have one loser above all: the youth.

“The consequences for our youngest in the areas of sport, exercise and health are fatal.

However, the benefit of the numerous measures has not been proven.”

Several organizations had already drawn attention to the negative effects of the Corona measures on the youngest members of society, not only mentioning the sporting activity, but also the increased risk of depression.

According to Hartewig, it is now a question of not losing a generation of sports-loving children and healthy young people.

"It will be a long way to make up for the deficits." (as)
