A number of wives also traveled to the G7 summit in Elmau.

Carrie Johnson now gave a look behind the scenes with several snapshots.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen - At the G7 summit in Elmau, the heads of state around host Olaf Scholz showed unity - unity especially towards Russia's ruler Vladimir Putin after his invasion of Ukraine.

The face-to-face meeting, in contrast to video switching, has the advantage that you can talk longer and in a more concentrated manner and can also come back to a topic the following day, Scholz explained at the final press conference.

G7 summit from a different perspective: first ladies enjoying the mountain air

But the summit also included the first ladies of the statesmen.

Not everyone had come - Jill Biden, for example, was missing.

But the others enjoyed an alternative program in a picturesque mountain setting.

For example, Christian Neureuther showed them the area while doing Nordic Walking.

However, this alternative program also belonged to a certain extent in the official portfolio, which was accompanied by photographers.

Only rarely was a look behind the scenes possible.

A highlight was certainly the spontaneous evening excursion by Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte, who even surprised the police with it.

They have apparently made themselves comfortable on a hotel terrace.

On the table in front of them is an Aperol spritz and a few water carafes.

The first ladies are laughing in the picture and seeming left out.

International understanding over an aperitif, so to speak.

Carrie also posted more photos online that gave a similar impression: the first ladies apparently got along very well.

The photos look more like holiday pictures than recordings from a top political meeting.
