Germs were found in the Hausham drinking water network.

The population is asked to boil the water until further notice.

Those are the next steps.

Update Friday, July 1, 4:30 p.m.:

Germs in the water pipe at the Agatharied hospital: The message that the Hausham community sent on Thursday afternoon made people sit up and take notice.

Not only the mayor, but also the press officer of the district hospital assured that nobody had to worry about their health.

And in a few days the spook should be over anyway.

As reported, so-called pseudomonads and coliform germs were found in a routine drinking water sample at the transfer point at Agatharied Hospital.

As soon as the laboratory results became known, the municipality immediately informed the health department, which then ordered the chlorination in the pipe network and issued a boiling order for all connected households.

The town hall informed the citizens and all municipal facilities such as schools, daycare centers and the hospital via all available channels, emphasized treasurer Martin Reisberger at the municipal council meeting on Thursday evening.

An unpleasant event, said Mayor Jens Zangenfeind (FWG).

However, this could happen again and again, as was the case last time around Christmas 2017. However, Zangenfeind emphasized that there was no reason for concern.

Ultimately, chlorination and boiling orders are precautionary measures.

As soon as the chlorine has spread throughout the entire pipe network, which will probably only take two to three days, the water will be germ-free again.

Meanwhile, the search for the cause of the contamination is in full swing at the waterworks.

According to water manager Anton Maier, the water is only tested once every six months, but now several samples are taken from different points in the network and analyzed in the laboratory.

The chlorine is meanwhile introduced directly into the waterworks in the Haidmühl, in order to then be distributed in all lines throughout the community.

In the meantime, you remain relaxed in the hospital.

As spokeswoman Melanie Speicher reports, the highest hygiene standards always apply here.

"Anything that helps against hospital germs also fights germs in drinking water," she says.

The patients would still be informed by the nurses about the current situation.

But they get to drink mineral water from bottles anyway, which is why it is not necessary to go to the tap with the glass.

According to Zangenfeind, the smell of chlorine that is to be expected when brushing teeth in the coming days is unfamiliar to many citizens, but also no cause for concern.

"It's always like that in some holiday countries."

First report Thursday, June 30, 5:30 p.m.:

Hausham

– Pseudomonas and coliform germs have been identified during routine testing of the water in the drinking water network in the community of Hausham and in Agatharied Hospital.

This was announced by the municipality on Thursday afternoon.

How the germs got into the drinking water is still unclear and will be investigated as soon as possible.

Water is chlorinated - but that takes time

Measures were taken immediately to protect the residents of Hausham and the patients in the hospital.

The chlorination of the drinking water was initiated in the afternoon.

Until a sufficient concentration in the drinking water is reached, an additional boiling order comes into force as a precautionary measure: All households in the municipality of Hausham, including the hospital, are asked to boil tap water as a precaution.

Endangerment of patients and citizens excluded

The chlorination must be carried out until the cause of the contamination can be clarified and eliminated.

Additional precautionary measures were also taken at Agatharied Hospital.

A risk to patients or employees in the hospital and the residents of Hausham can thus be ruled out.

Citizens are asked to inform neighbors about the cooking order.
