Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko considered that the accession of Finland and Sweden to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is the worst episode in the development of European security.
"The expansion of NATO and the entry of Finland and Sweden, in my view, is one of the most unfortunate events in the development of European security," Grushko said during a discussion at the Valdai Club.
During its summit in Madrid, NATO formally invited Sweden and Finland to join it, and the alliance adopted a new strategic concept until 2030 that describes Russia as the main threat to its security.
