A technical incident at Austerlitz station, forgotten luggage and a slow recovery after a Saint-Lazare strike and canceled flights

In airports or on the rails, this Friday was eventful for travelers in the Paris region.

On the roads too, since this Friday afternoon is classified red in Île-de-France according to Bison smart, although the school holidays have not yet started.

The morning began with a computer failure in Choisy-le-Roi (Val-de-Marne) causing the paralysis of trains arriving or leaving Paris-Austerlitz station, from 6 a.m.

“A computer incident is currently preventing trains from being correctly routed in the Choisy-le-Roi sector,” explained the RER C Twitter account. On this line, traffic was interrupted for a long time between Juvisy and Paris-Austerlitz and between Massy-Palaiseau and Paris-Austerlitz, in both directions of traffic.

Traffic did not resume gradually until around 9 a.m.

SNCF Réseau, in charge of the infrastructure, carried out a "technical diagnosis" on the faulty switch before a repair was carried out.

The company said it was "sorry for the inconvenience".

A forgotten piece of luggage causes chaos in Saint-Lazare

A few hours later, it was at Saint-Lazare station that compact masses of travelers found themselves stranded in the hall.

Due to forgotten luggage, access to the platforms was disrupted between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Lines L, J but also trains for Normandy have been delayed.

All against a backdrop of “lack of staff” the day after the “unexpected” strike by SNCF Transilien drivers.

Disturbances are planned until Friday evening on lines L, J, as well as on the Poissy branch of the RER A. The striking train drivers denounce an organization of the SNCF in Île-de-France which weighs on the daily lives of employees.

“Where before, the company communicated 21 days in advance on changes to service days due to work, this deadline has fallen in recent months to two or three days, or even the day before for the next day!

“, can we read in a press release.

Sud Rail denounces the lack of staff, the changes in schedules, and regrets that there is "no negotiation and therefore no progress" with the management, which points, for its part, "an illegal movement".

“Inadmissible and unacceptable: with this type of strike without any legality, the striking train drivers alienate almost all users.

The initial claims, the legitimate fears about opening up to competition are swept away from the debate”, denounces the user association Plus de Trains.

More disruptions on Saturday on Line L

The company warns travelers that residual disruptions linked to a “lack of staff” are also to be expected on Saturday July 2 on Line L. “Due to the unexpected nature of the local social movement, residual disruptions should take place on certain branches of some of the lines concerned (RER A, Line L, Line J), ”says Transilien.

Plan a train every 30 minutes on Saturday between Paris St Lazare, Versailles and St Nom-la-Bretèche.

“Check your timetables the day before from 5 p.m. (this Friday) via the route calculator or the “Timetables” section of the Transilien.com site or on the app”, advises the SNCF.

This weekend, the start of the summer works will have an impact on traffic on several Transilien and RER lines.

The CGT, CFDT, FO, CFTC, Sud, Unsa, CFE-CGC and Solidaires unions have called on all employees to mobilize to obtain a general increase of at least 6%.

The management of ADP proposed this Thursday morning a 3% increase and the negotiation of a “dual status” for new hires.
