The Israel Police arrested last night (Thursday) a suspect in threats against one of the organizers of the Pride Parade in Mitzpe Ramon.
The suspect, a resident of the place, in his 50s, was arrested and brought this morning to the Magistrate's Court in Be'er Sheva.
The Pride Parade is expected to begin this morning in Mitzpe Ramon.
Following the High Court hearing on Thursday, the police will allow the march to take place in an outline submitted for police approval subject to and subject to the marchers marching near the square next to the yeshiva and the rabbi’s house ending by 11:45 that day.
It should be noted that following the intention to hold a pride parade in Mitzpe Ramon, the organizers received threats of murder, and a counter-demonstration took place there.
One of the members of the proud community filed a complaint with the police after he was explicitly told: "We have nothing to lose, if anyone passes here we will kill him".
According to the march organizers: "Threat of murder, hanging threatening signs, handing out hundreds of flyers - we are going through an unprecedented smear campaign. We will not give up. We will not give in to extremists. We are part of this place, we were born here."
Uri Keidar, CEO of Israel Free, said: "I thank the High Court judges who did not allow the injustice to happen and take my hat off to the proud leadership in Mitzpe Ramon."
The Israel Police is preparing for the parade and the deployment is based on both the intelligence picture and the situation assessments, and includes overt and covert police activity before and during the event.
