(ANSA) - BRESCIA, 01 JUL - The assize court of Brescia has acquitted the doctor Carlo Mosca of voluntary murder.
The suspended chief of the emergency room of the Montichiari hospital, in the province of Brescia, was on trial for the death of two covid patients who died in March 2020 in the first wave.
The sentence came after two hours in a council chamber.
The immediate cessation of the measure of house arrest has been ordered.
The transmission of the documents to the public prosecutor's office for slander against the two nurses who had accused the doctor was also ordered.
The prosecutor had asked for 24 years in prison for voluntary homicide, the defense the acquittal claiming that "behind this story there is a whole plot".
These were the two truths told in the
last hearing in the Moscow trial.
Under house arrest from 25 January 2021, the doctor was accused of the death of two patients, 61 and 79 years old, hospitalized in March 2020 in the first dramatic Covid wave in Bresciano.
According to the indictment, the doctor administered Propofol and Succinylcholine, "drugs incompatible with life" that should be used before a patient intubation.
Intubation which in the cases in question has never been performed.
The accusation, however, according to the judges was unfounded.
