Munich woman (22) crashed on Taubenstein – mountain rescue rescues climber

A woman from Munich (22) fell on a climbing tour on the southwest ridge of the Taubenstein in the Spitzingsee area.

The otherwise well-secured woman lost her helmet and suffered several injuries.

Spitzingsee – The alarm reached the Schliersee mountain rescue service at 2:11 p.m.: a person who had fallen on the Taubenstein.

The brother (25) of the woman from Munich who had an accident had made the emergency call.

Both wanted to climb the southwest ridge of the Taubenstein.

An easy route, as mountain rescue spokesman Lorenz Haberl reports.

But after just a few meters, the 22-year-old slipped, fell to the ground and rolled about 20 to 30 meters further on a stony grassy slope.

There she remained lying with an ankle injury as well as lacerations and abrasions.

As Haberl adds, the young woman's helmet had come off when she fell, so that she was also injured in the head.

With five men, the mountain rescue team immediately made their way to the scene of the accident with a mountain stretcher.

Since access from the west was somewhat difficult in view of any rockfall, the team chose the path around Taubenstein.

"It was a detour, but safer," explains Haberl.

Arrived at the scene of the accident, the 22-year-old was cared for and stored before being taken to a flatter spot.

Then an abseiling point was set up to let the woman from Munich down about 30 to 40 meters to the Obere Maxlrainer Alm. Again for safety reasons.

From there, the injured were transported to the Untere Maxlrainer Alm and with the mountain rescue vehicle to Spitzingsee.

From there, the injured were handed over to the ambulance, which took them to the hospital.

For the rescuers from the mountain rescue team, the mission ended around 6:30 p.m.

For Haberl it was an accident that can happen in the mountains.

"The two were on a fixed tour," he summarizes, pointing out that there are around ten routes with levels of difficulty from two to eight possible.

"Both were well equipped and chose the easiest route." It could happen that there were complications with the helmet.

"They were perfectly equipped."
