Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree nationalizing the Sakhalin Energy Investment Company in response to the sanctions of some countries against Moscow.
The website of Russia Today channel stated that the decree includes the application of exceptional measures in the energy sector, including the nationalization of the "Sakhalin Energy Limited Company" to become the property of the Russian Federation, and the government established a limited liability company to which all rights and obligations of the foreign company are transferred.
Gazprom Sakhalin Holding Company will acquire a stake in Sakhalin 2 in proportion to the share in Sakhalin Energy.
