A new cetacean has been seen in the Seine, between the Normandy bridge and the Tancarville bridge, near Le Havre.
Since Tuesday June 28, the animal has been observed on multiple occasions by sailors and pilots from the Seine, the Seine-Maritime prefecture said in a press release.

The cetacean appears to be in good physical condition.
The species of the animal has not yet been determined exactly but it could be an adult sharp-nosed whale of about 10 meters, reports France Bleu.
The media reveals that, according to specialists, the species in question is not unknown to coastal areas, it is not uncommon to observe them.
Calls for witnesses have been launched by the prefecture (obs@gecc-normandie.org) and by the Sea Shepherd association (contact@seasheperd.fr) in order to be able to provide assistance to the cetacean.
The situation is reminiscent of that of an orca, lost in the Seine for several days and which was finally found dead last month.
